Chapter 7 - The Billionaire's Shield
Alexander Sterling, towering in his immaculate cream ivory tuxedo jacket, moved with the swift, unshakeable authority of an apex predator protecting his pride.
He stepped directly between Ryan and the little girl, wrapping a strong, deeply protective hand around Madeline’s waist. His broad shoulders completely blocked Ryan’s view of Lily.
Alexander looked down at Ryan, his dark eyes radiating absolute dominance and quiet, terrifying power.
"She is my daughter now, Ryan," Alexander declared in a deep, authoritative voice that vibrated through the floorboards of the ballroom. "You gave up your right seven years ago."
"Step aside, Alexander," Ryan growled, his shock rapidly morphing into desperate, helpless rage as he tried to look past the billionaire's shoulder. "That is my biological child! You have no right to keep me from her! I will hire every lawyer in Manhattan to secure my custody rights!"
Alexander didn't blink. He calmly reached inside the breast pocket of his tuxedo jacket and pulled out a sleek, black leather folder.
With measured precision, Alexander opened the folder and held the documents up for Ryan to see under the glow of the crystal chandeliers.
Inside the folder were two pieces of paper: a certified DNA paternity test proving Ryan’s biological connection, stapled directly behind a supreme court-sealed adoption decree, finalized and legally binding, naming Alexander Sterling as Lily's sole, permanent, and irrevocable legal father.

"There is no court in this country that will entertain you, Ryan," Alexander stated coldly. "By the time you signed those divorce papers with a complete waiver of future claims, you sealed your own fate. In the eyes of the law, and in the eyes of that little girl, you are absolutely nothing."
