Chapter 1 - The Public Mockery

The colossal luxury estate ballroom was an architectural marvel of high-society opulence, framed by towering crystal chandeliers and massive floor-to-ceiling glass windows that looked out over a sprawling, private driveway. Hundreds of elite guests in formal evening wear mingled beneath the warm candlelight.

At the center of the grand room stood Adrian. He was a ruthless thirty-something man wearing a pristine black tuxedo, a crisp white shirt, and a black bowtie. His face was twisted into an expression of arrogant, mocking triumph as he laughed loudly at his wife in front of the entire ballroom.

Beside him stood Elena. She was thirty-four years old, her dark hair pulled back gracefully. But her appearance was starkly jarring: her skin was pale, and there were visible, stark bruises and scratches starkly marring her face. She wore a breathtaking green sequined evening gown, standing completely silent amidst the cruel whispers of the crowd.

Adrian raised his glass, his voice booming mockingly through the space.

"Maybe now you’ll finally learn where you belong," Adrian declared loudly, humiliating his battered wife for the amusement of the city's elite.

Elena did not cower. She stood entirely calm, her fingers clutching a black smartphone tightly against her side.

And then, through the tall glass windows behind them, a sharp head-turning movement caught the guests' attention: a menacing, unbroken line of imposing black SUVs suddenly pulled up to the estate gates, their heavy tires crunching against the private gravel driveway.
