Chapter 7 - THE WOMEN THEY THOUGHT WOULD STAY SILENT

Richard moved Margaret to an abandoned pharmaceutical testing site in Nevada.

We knew because she activated an old emergency tracker hidden inside her medical bracelet.

My mother had given it to her years earlier.

Two women warning each other in secret while powerful men built public stories.

Federal agents surrounded the site.

Richard demanded the cloud backup and my signed agreement.

Priya prepared a decoy.

I asked to go inside.

Lena refused.

Margaret sent a message through the tracker.

EMILY ONLY. HE WANTS HER ON CAMERA.

Of course.

Richard wanted me recorded accepting responsibility.

The unstable heiress.

The violent wife.

The corrupt trust beneficiary.

The story had evolved but the method remained.

I entered wearing a body camera.

Richard sat in a laboratory observation room.

Margaret was strapped to a medical chair.

An IV ran into her arm.

“Stop the infusion,” I said.

“Sign first.”

“What is it?”

“A sedative.”

“Like the one used on Peter?”

He smiled.

“Peter was weak.”

“You killed him?”

“Daniel did.”

Another fracture.

Richard sacrificed his son without hesitation.

I kept him talking.

He said Daniel shot Peter after Peter refused payment.

Vanessa helped stage Rachel.

Richard later shot Vanessa because she became a liability.

Family loyalty was only useful until testimony.

“Why take Margaret?”

“She stole my company records.”

“She protected victims.”

“She betrayed her husband.”

Margaret looked at him.

“You stopped being my husband when you used our children.”

Richard’s face hardened.

He handed me a document.

I pretended to read.

Outside, agents positioned.

The agreement transferred my coastal shares and released Whitmore Pharmaceuticals from civil liability.

It also contained a confession.

I authorized the fertility trial.

I assaulted Daniel first.

I conspired with Rachel to steal corporate files.

Everything tied together.

“Sign.”

“No.”

He increased the IV flow.

Margaret’s eyes fluttered.

I moved.

Richard raised a gun.

I stopped.

“You need me alive.”

“Only long enough.”

“Then why is there no notary?”

He glanced toward the observation window.

A camera.

A remote witness.

Dr. Cross.

He was watching from another location and prepared to authenticate the signature.

I turned toward the lens.

“Stephen, Richard is about to blame you for every illegal trial.”

Richard looked at the camera.

The feed flickered.

I continued.

“He told federal agents Daniel killed Peter. What do you think he says about your prescriptions?”

Richard shouted, “Enough.”

The observation speaker clicked.

Cross’s voice came through.

“Richard?”

The alliance broke in real time.

Richard aimed at the camera.

Agents breached.

I pulled the IV from Margaret’s arm.

Richard fired.

Glass shattered.

Lena tackled him from the side.

The gun slid.

Margaret collapsed against me.

Richard was arrested.

Dr. Cross attempted to flee.

Cyber agents traced his feed to a private clinic.

He was arrested too.

Margaret survived.

In the ambulance, she held my hand.

“Your mother would be proud.”

“She should have told me.”

“Yes.”

No defense.

That mattered.

The recovered site contained the full clinical archive.

My name appeared as Subject E-17.

Rachel’s brother appeared as Subject O-4.

Peter had been collecting victim identities.

Richard ordered his death.

Daniel carried it out.

The prosecutors now had motive, method, and records.

Then one final file opened.

Video from my wedding day.

Richard speaking to Daniel.

“Once she trusts you, the trust follows.”

Daniel asked, “What if I love her?”

Richard replied, “Then use it.”

Daniel looked away.

May you like

For one second, he had hesitated.

Then he said, “I will.”
