Chapter 1 - The Cloudy Glass

The luxury kitchen of the sprawling suburban estate was an absolute masterpiece of modern design, featuring gleaming white marble countertops, brushed nickel fixtures, and soft, recessed lighting that cast an expensive, warm glow over the room. But the pristine, quiet elegance of the space was violently shattered by a terrifying, suffocating tension.
Morgan, a stunning woman in her thirties with her brown hair styled in an immaculate updo and wearing a sharp, elegant pink tweed suit, stood rigidly beside the central marble island. In her hand, she held a clear glass filled with a strange, fizzy, cloudy liquid. Resting at the bottom of the glass was her most treasured possession: a family heirloom gold necklace.
Heavy footsteps echoed sharply against the hardwood floor. Julian, her husband in his thirties wearing a light blue button-down shirt and dark pants, walked in briskly through the archway. His steps were quick, but his posture immediately locked up as his eyes locked onto the glass in her hand. A look of sharp, calculated suspicion flashed across his face.
"What are you doing with that?" Julian asked, his voice tight, probing, and dangerously sharp.
Morgan didn't flinch. Her expression was a mask of cold, devastating shock as she stared at the glass. She slowly lifted her hands, holding the gold chain suspended just above the bubbling, cloudy water.
"What is leaking out of this?" Morgan asked, her voice trembling slightly with the horrific realization of what she was looking at.
