CHAPTER 1

Elena Whitmore found them kissing beside the open terrace door.
The Malibu villa was still glowing with honeymoon candles.
Champagne rested untouched on the marble table.
White roses covered the floor where Leonardo had carried her hours earlier, laughing against her neck and calling her Mrs. Whitmore like he had earned the name.
Now he stood barefoot in the candlelight, black shirt partly open, one hand at Vanessa’s waist.
Vanessa wore a red satin dress.
And Elena’s diamond earrings.
And Elena’s bracelet.
The bracelet her grandmother had left her.
For one second, Elena could not breathe.
Then Vanessa looked over Leonardo’s shoulder and smiled.
“She really believed you loved her.”
Leonardo turned.
His face changed, but not into guilt.
Into calculation.
“Elena—”
She crossed the room before he could finish.
Her hand struck his face with a sharp crack.
His head snapped sideways.
Vanessa recoiled, one hand flying to the stolen diamond bracelet.
Elena’s voice shook, but it did not break.
“Don’t touch me. Tell the truth.”
Leonardo tried to step toward her.
She backed away and pointed straight at Vanessa.
“Tell me who she is.”
“Elena, calm down.”

The words almost made her laugh.
Calm down.
Men always reached for calm when truth finally became dangerous to them.
Elena’s eyes filled, but her voice turned colder.
“That’s not your ex-wife. That’s your biological sister.”
The villa went silent.
Leonardo froze.
Vanessa’s face drained white.
Elena lifted her phone.
The screen was already recording.
“By sunrise, everyone will know.”
May you like
And for the first time since she had met him, Leonardo did not look charming.
He looked afraid.
