Maggie refused.
Cross sent another message.

Theo held the paternal twin line.
Cody held Maggie’s maternal line.
Ethan held Drew’s donor line and Charles’s direct line.
Together, their signatures could unlock a hidden patent portfolio worth billions.

Charles designed the arrangement to prevent any one child from controlling the family.

Thomas Barrymore appeared on the next video.
He looked exhausted.

“No.”

Then Drew’s attorney filed for custody of Ethan.

Rehabilitation plan.
Ethan refused.
The court appointed independent counsel.
Drew had abandoned him, helped conceal him, and raised another stolen child.
Her biological connection did not erase history.
Meanwhile, Cody’s placement became contested.
Drew wanted him back.
Maggie wanted contact, not immediate transfer.
The child therapist recommended stability.
Cody remained in temporary foster care near both families while investigation continued.
He hated everyone for that.
“I didn’t do the bad plan,” he shouted.
No.
He did not.
Then Cross released private footage of Maggie slapping Ethan.

No cake throw.

Only a wealthy hostess striking a poor child.

Maggie did not hide.

“I struck a child after judging him without listening. The edited clip omits context, but context does not excuse my action. I am responsible for the slap. I am also cooperating in the investigation that revealed why he was targeted.”

Then Ethan watched the statement.
He told Laura:
“She didn’t say I made her do it.”
“No.”
“Adults usually do.”
That became the first crack in his distrust.
Then Cross sent one final file.
A will signed by Charles.
If Maggie publicly acknowledged wrongdoing against Ethan, Ethan became eligible for Barrymore guardianship transfer.
Charles had anticipated even her remorse.

Maggie finally understood why Charles’s will linked her public acknowledgment to Ethan’s guardianship transfer.

Priya, the new independent attorney, filed an emergency order forbidding any use of Maggie’s apology, press statement, or therapy records in guardianship proceedings without full context.
