Lauren denied ordering the outage.
The payment trail said otherwise.
Her hidden account received three million dollars from Northstar.
The transfer occurred before she escaped the recovery apartment.
Was it payment?
Or evidence planted to discredit her?
Forensic review found the account opened using her identity but Adrian’s device.
The money moved without her login.
Marcus knew the account existed because he helped create it.
His accusation was another timed weapon.
But Lauren had still lied about one thing.
She had known the embryo’s biological origin before agreeing to become backup surrogate.
She discovered the file early.
Why continue?
She believed carrying the Harrison-line child would give her security.
A place in the family.
Maybe control.
She changed her mind only after Marcus threatened to remove the baby from her too.
Again, she regretted becoming disposable.
Not initially helping dispose of me.

Lauren for becoming emotionally involved.
Me for refusing to “understand family strategy.”
The prosecutor asked, “Did anyone force you to threaten your unborn child?”
“No.”
“Forge your wife’s initials?”
“No.”
“Drug her supplements?”
“No.”
“Arrange a medical transfer?”
“No.”
“Then what exactly did they force?”
Marcus had no answer.
Adrian testified too.
He said he raised Ethan lovingly.
That was true.
He also hid Ethan’s identity for leverage.
Love and exploitation occupied the same house.
Cross described Legacy Continuity clinically.
The prosecutor asked whether children were ever treated as people in the planning documents.
Cross said, “They were beneficiaries.”
“That was not the question.”
After a pause, Cross answered, “No.”
The jury convicted Marcus of reproductive fraud, conspiracy to cause bodily harm, document forgery, financial fraud, attempted coercive control, and racketeering.
He received sixty-two years.
Adrian received fifty.
Cross received life.
Northstar executives received long sentences.
Lauren received seven years with supervised release.
At sentencing, Marcus looked at Catherine’s photograph on the prosecution table.
“She should have been mine.”
I answered, “That sentence is why she never will be.”
Dad testified against Northstar and admitted his own failures.
The board permanently removed him from unilateral control.
He remained a minority director for one transition year, then stepped down.
Harrison Capital became employee- and trust-governed.
No family chair.
No inherited veto.
The mansion remained mine.
I sold it.
Not because the marble held bad memories.
Because I did not want Catherine raised inside a monument to control.
We moved into a smaller house with a garden.
No tactical officers.
No hidden cameras.
Visible security only.
Consent in architecture.
Doors people could close without being watched.
Then I opened Catherine’s medical file.
The clinic had marked her embryo as Product WH-C1.
I requested the label be removed from every official record.
The archivist said the original could not be destroyed because it was evidence.
So we kept it.
