Chapter 5 - THE FOUNDER’S CLAUSE
The Sterling Family Trust was older than the current empire.
Its founder, Elias Sterling, believed family wealth should survive incompetent heirs.
He wrote a clause giving control to any direct descendant who demonstrated “genetic continuity and moral fitness.”
The phrase sounded noble.
It became a machine for abuse.
Cross interpreted genetic continuity literally.
Margaret weaponized it.
Thomas ignored it until too late.
Eleanor spent years trying to amend it.
The amendment required three signatures:
Thomas.
Eleanor.
The next adult Sterling descendant.

I had never known.

The clause required proof.
Now we had it.
But activating it would release every sealed family record publicly.

Marcus’s medical theft.

Vanessa’s baby.
I wanted justice.
I did not want my daughter’s body turned into public evidence.
Priya suggested a protective court process.
Eleanor refused secrecy.

I answered:
“Public truth does not require publishing a child.”
That became the line.
We filed under child-protection seal while releasing corporate and criminal evidence publicly.
No photographs.
No full medical data.
No trust authority attached to names.
The court accepted.
Then Daniel’s attorneys attacked.
They claimed Eleanor kidnapped me with private security.
They claimed the slap caused Daniel’s injuries.
They claimed I removed Lily from her legal home.
They filed emergency custody.
The hearing occurred the next morning.
Daniel appeared in court with a bruise across his cheek.
He described himself as a concerned father.
Then Claire played the mansion footage.
Suitcase thrown.
Margaret pointing.
Vanessa kicking belongings.
Daniel charging Eleanor.
Lily crying.
The judge asked Daniel:
“Why did you question paternity publicly if you already knew the child’s genetic file?”
Daniel froze.
He had no answer that did not reveal the scheme.
Then Priya produced his messages.
IF CLAIRE WON’T SIGN, MAKE HER FEEL HOMELESS.
MOM WILL HANDLE THE BABY.
VANESSA CAN PROVOKE HER.
The judge denied custody.
Issued protection orders.
Froze Daniel’s personal assets.
Then ordered the mansion transferred back to Sterling Residential pending fraud review.
Daniel lost the house before lunch.
Margaret lost access to every account by evening.
Vanessa cooperated.
Owen remained in custody.
Cross disappeared.
Again.
He left the country using a diplomatic medical passport.
Destination unknown.
But one server message remained.

THE FOUNDER IS AWAKE.

Not Elias.
Not Thomas.
A living person connected to the original embryo program.
Then Rachel Moore’s autopsy revealed a tiny encrypted capsule beneath her skin.
Inside was a video.
A woman sat in a dark medical room.

Weak voice.

“My name is Eleanor Sterling.”

The woman in the video had her face.
