Rachel made changes too.

Claire’s old phrase,
“Rachel chaos.”
Rachel stopped calling:
Michael controlling
every time he requested consistency.
Both labels had become:
shortcuts.
They required more precise language now.
Sometimes:
“Sunday at six matters because Nora has school.”
Sometimes:
“I need Thursday because of work.”
Sometimes:
“No.”
Adult.
Boring.
Healthy.
Then Rachel apologized for:
one pattern.
After exchanges, she had often asked:
“Did Claire question you again?”
Nora learned:
the answer mattered.
Rachel stopped.
Michael apologized for:
“Did Mom forget anything?”
Same issue.

child.
