They left the church together under soft rain.
No storm.
No cameras.
No coffin.
Outside, the city moved on.
Inside, the plaque caught the stained-glass light.
The story remained.
Not because people loved scandal.
Though they did.
Not because a corrupt captain fell.
Though he did.
Not even because Dominic survived his own funeral.
Though that was the part everyone repeated first.
The story remained because Atlas had done what good partners do.
He noticed what others were told not to notice.
He refused a command that would have made the powerful comfortable.
He placed his body against the lie and would not move.
And because Elias, broken by grief, still listened.
That was the miracle.
Not that a dog knew.
