The luxury hotel ballroom.
The crystal chandeliers.
The tall white cake.
The champagne tower.
The locked black wedding-gift safe beside the cake.
Victoria gripping the handle.
Blake needs that money tonight.
Lily stepping between her and the safe.
It belongs to both of us.
Evan lunging.
His fist hooking around the pearl necklace.
The violent yank.
The chain snapping.
Pearls bursting through the air.
The lace tearing.
Lily stumbling into the champagne tower.
Apologize to my mother!
Broken glass across the floor.
Lily standing amid the pearls, holding her torn gown closed.
Touch that box and you’ll regret it.
The heavy impact against the locked ballroom doors.
The handles straining.
The doors opening a few inches.
A woman with a black briefcase and raised document standing in the gap.
