Chapter 10 - The Financial Guillotine

"No!" Brandon wailed hysterically, completely abandoning his arrogant CEO facade. He fell to his knees on the hardwood floor, grabbing his hair. "My company! My bank accounts! You can't do this!"

"You built absolutely nothing," Mr. Sterling sneered in disgust. "Your corporate and personal accounts are entirely frozen pending a fraud investigation. You have absolutely zero assets."

The lead Sheriff’s deputy stepped forward, resting his hand on his utility belt.

"You have exactly ten minutes to vacate the premises," the deputy commanded loudly. "Grab your coats and walk out the front door, or you will be arrested for criminal trespassing."

The deputies didn't wait. They marched into the house, violently herding the screaming, weeping couple toward the front doors. They didn't let Melissa pack her expensive dresses. They didn't let Brandon grab his watches.

Brandon sobbed like a child, forced out of the mahogany doors in nothing but his bathrobe.

He frantically pulled his cell phone from his pocket and dialed his mother's number, his hands shaking violently as he stood shivering on the cold driveway.

"Mom! Please!" Brandon shrieked the absolute second Evelyn answered the phone. "I'm sorry! I'll cancel the forged loan! I love you! Please don't leave me with nothing! Why are you doing this?!"

The cinematic scene cut back to Evelyn, sitting peacefully in her massive, luxury penthouse overlooking the city skyline. She took a slow, elegant sip of her vintage red wine, her eyes cold and absolute.

"You told me to learn to live within my means, Brandon," Evelyn replied softly, her voice completely devoid of any human mercy. "I'm just doing exactly what you told me to do."

Evelyn hung up the phone, completely severing the parasitic monsters from her life forever.

If you were Evelyn, would you have warned Brandon before seizing the house, or was letting him get evicted in his bathrobe the absolute perfect revenge?
