Chapter 3 - The Daughter-in-Law's Smirk

"You don't understand financial responsibility, Mom," Brandon said condescendingly, shaking his head in absolute disgust as he played his twisted role for the onlookers. "You're a liability."

"She probably thinks money grows on trees, Brandon," Melissa sneered loudly, her eyes flashing with pure malice. "It's embarrassing. We have a massive estate to maintain, and she's out here playing pretend."

Evelyn didn't cry. She didn't scream back. She didn't drop her gaze.

She simply stared at the two arrogant monsters sitting in front of her.

"It won't be your money for long if you keep blowing it," Melissa scoffed, aggressively cutting her expensive steak. "Brandon is taking over your finances next week. We are filing for a financial conservatorship. For your own good, obviously."

Evelyn elegantly held her crystal wineglass, looking directly into her son's arrogant eyes.

"It's my money," Evelyn replied, her voice quiet, steady, and chillingly calm.

Brandon laughed cruelly, leaning back in his chair. "You have nothing, Mom. You're a dependent. And it's time you start acting like one."

👉 Evelyn slowly set down her silver fork, preparing to make a decision that would completely destroy her son's life.
