Chapter 2 - The Secret Betrayal

The cinematic tension in the upscale restaurant spiked to a paralyzing level.
To understand why a grown man was screaming at his elderly mother over a bottle of wine, you had to understand the terrifying level of Brandon's greed.
For the past ten years, Brandon had paraded around the city as a highly successful, self-made tech CEO. He and Melissa lived in a sprawling, multi-million-dollar suburban mansion, drove exotic luxury SUVs, and posted their extravagant vacations all over social media.
But it was a complete, pathetic illusion.
Brandon's tech company was completely bankrupt. He was drowning in millions of dollars of hidden corporate debt. Two days ago, the bank had formally rejected his final loan extension.
Desperate to maintain his fake billionaire lifestyle, Brandon had secretly forged Evelyn's signature on a massive collateral document. He had illegally leveraged Evelyn’s modest, fully paid-off condo to secure a high-interest bridge loan for himself.
The bank was legally seizing Evelyn’s home on Monday morning.

Brandon and Melissa were intentionally picking a vicious fight at the restaurant. They wanted to publicly humiliate Evelyn, accuse her of being financially incompetent, and use the fabricated "spending problem" as an excuse to force her into a cheap, state-run nursing home before she discovered she was entirely homeless.
👉 Brandon continued to shout, entirely oblivious to the absolute financial bloodbath his mother was about to unleash.
