Chapter 6 - The Federal Checkmate

Matteo didn't yell. His quietness was infinitely more terrifying.
"Carlo is a dead man," Matteo whispered coldly, rapidly typing a heavily encrypted execution order to his most ruthless enforcers. "And you are completely finished."
"Matteo, please!" Serena begged pathetically, crawling toward his expensive black shoes. "I'll leave the state! I'll never come back! Just let me go!"
"I'm not going to touch you, Serena," Matteo stated clinically, looking down at her with pure, unfiltered disgust. "But Olivia didn't just leave a medical file in this box."
Matteo reached back into the small ivory box and pulled out a tiny, black digital flash drive.
Serena physically stopped breathing.
"My wife is brilliant," Matteo explained flawlessly, his voice trembling with a mixture of heavy realization and profound regret. "While you were busy sleeping with my lieutenant and planning to steal my money, Olivia spent the last three months actively tracking Carlo's offshore accounts. She found the exact wire transfers where he embezzled millions from my syndicate to pay for your luxury apartment and your designer gowns."
"She can't prove that!" Serena shrieked hysterically.
"She already did," Matteo replied smoothly. "Because she didn't just leave this flash drive for me. She sent a duplicate copy directly to the federal fraud division an hour ago."
Heavy, wailing sirens aggressively shattered the elegant, peaceful atmosphere outside the hotel.
