Chapter 6 - Eli Started Leaving Things at School on Purpose
I thought my son was becoming:
forgetful.
Thursday afternoons he suddenly forgot:
lunch box,
math folder,
sweatshirt.
Things that required us to drive back toward:
school.

delay.
Every forgotten object pushed arrival at Grandpa’s house:
later.
I asked:
“Do you not want to go?”
Eli stared out the passenger window.
“Not really.”
“Why?”
“He’s annoying.”
I smiled.
“Grandfathers are annoying.”

“He makes me do stuff.”
“What stuff?”
“Work.”
“Chores?”

“Helping Grandpa isn’t bad.”
