Chapter 7 - Daniel Did Not Know How Badly His Mother Had Been Pressuring Me

This was one of my mistakes.

I hid part of it from him.

Not everything.

He knew Victoria made cruel comments.

He knew she wanted trust money.

But I did not tell him every conversation.

Why?

Because Daniel and Victoria already fought constantly over me.

Every time I told him something, he confronted her.

Every confrontation became another family war.

So I started editing.

When Victoria said:

“If Daniel were married to someone healthy, he wouldn’t need your mother’s money.”

I told him she was “being difficult.”

When she said:

“You should sign the investment agreement before Daniel realizes how much easier his life would be without you.”

I said nothing.

When she told me:

“My son is thirty-two. Do you really expect him to spend the next fifty years pushing your chair?”

I cried alone.

That secrecy helped Victoria.

Cruelty grows in edited versions.

The night of the dining-room confrontation, Daniel finally understood how far it had gone.

His mother was not merely impatient.

She was trying to break my confidence until signing away financial control felt like compensation for being loved.

And when she slapped me, every polished excuse disappeared.
