Chapter 3 - The Serbian Restaurant

Nadia didn't go to Theodore. He had been completely blinded by Clarissa's manipulative charm, refusing to believe his beautiful fiancée could be so cruel.

Instead, Nadia sought out Dragan Kovac.

Dragan was a powerful, incredibly wealthy associate of Theodore’s who frequently visited the estate. He was an intimidating man with old scars across his knuckles, but he was the only guest who had ever knelt down to help Nadia pick up a broken wineglass.

Nadia found him sitting in a quiet, shadowy booth at a Serbian restaurant near the harbor, flanked by one massive security professional.

Dragan looked up. His gray eyes immediately noticed the jagged, butchered state of Nadia’s hair.

"Sit," Dragan commanded softly.

Nadia sat down. Her hands were shaking violently, but she didn't cry. She told him everything. The destroyed cosmetics. The spilled dye. The threats against Mila's medical funding. And finally, the scissors in the greenhouse.

Dragan didn't interrupt her once. He just stared at her uneven hair.

"I had a sister," Dragan whispered, his voice vibrating with a dark, terrifying calm. "She worked domestic service. An employer abused her, withheld her wages, and threatened her. By the time I found out, it was too late."

Nadia stopped breathing, realizing exactly why this powerful man was listening to a maid.

"That does not happen again around me," Dragan vowed, leaning forward. "I don't want revenge. I want evidence."

Dragan immediately made two phone calls. Within an hour, his attorneys confirmed that Theodore’s medical subsidy was contracted through a third-party charity. Clarissa had absolutely no legal authority to cancel Mila's appointments. She had lied to terrorize Nadia.

"Go back to work tomorrow," Dragan instructed, his gray eyes turning completely pitch black. "Do not confront her. Let her believe she broke you. My team will handle the rest."

👉 Dragan's lawyer called the estate's butler, expecting to find a scared old man, but what she found was an absolute goldmine.
