Chapter 5 - The Midnight Trap

Dante didn't pull a weapon. A quick, violent outburst in the dining room was far too generous for a woman who preyed on the helpless.

He looked at his watch. It was 11:00 PM.

Dante’s expression shifted into a mask of cold, terrifying calculation. He looked at the massive security guards who had previously taken Victoria’s orders.

"Clear the dining room," Dante commanded smoothly. "Escort our guests to their vehicles. Confiscate Victoria’s cell phone."

The guards immediately stepped forward, snatching the phone from Victoria's trembling hands. The guests practically sprinted out of the room, terrified of the wrath the billionaire was about to unleash.

Dante turned to Clara. His dark eyes softened with profound, overwhelming respect.

"Take my mother to the subterranean safe room," Dante requested gently. "Lock the heavy steel door from the inside. Do not open it for anyone except me."

"Yes, sir," Clara nodded, gently taking Eleanor’s arm and leading the weeping matriarch away to absolute safety.

Dante was left entirely alone in the grand dining room with Victoria.

"Dante, please!" Victoria sobbed, dropping to her knees on the hardwood floor, her expensive burgundy gown pooling around her. "I'll leave! I'll sign whatever you want! Just let me walk out the front door!"

"You aren't walking out the front door, Victoria," Dante whispered, sitting calmly at the head of the mahogany table, pouring himself another glass of red wine. "You paid for a medical transport at midnight. It would be incredibly rude not to greet your guests."
