Chapter 6 - The Apex Predator

At exactly midnight, the heavy iron service doors at the back of the mansion clicked open.
Three massive, heavily muscular men stepped into the dark hallway. They didn't look like nurses. They looked like cartel enforcers wearing cheap white medical scrubs. The lead thug was carrying a heavy canvas straitjacket and a medical bag filled with potent, illegal sedatives.
"The bride said the old bat's room is on the second floor," the lead thug whispered, pulling out a heavy stun gun. "Keep it quiet. If the billionaire wakes up, we don't get the rest of the cash."
They crept up the back staircase, entirely unaware that the entire mansion had been plunged into pitch-black darkness. The glowing crystal chandeliers were completely dead.
They reached Eleanor’s master bedroom. The thug slowly pushed the heavy oak door open.
They approached the large canopy bed, raising the stun gun. The leader violently ripped the heavy silk blankets back, ready to subdue the fragile seventy-year-old woman.
The bed was completely empty.
Suddenly, the heavy oak bedroom door slammed shut behind them, the deadbolt clicking with a terrifying finality.
"She's not here," a deep, demonic voice echoed from the dark corner of the bedroom.
The thugs spun around, raising their weapons.
Dante stepped out of the shadows. He had taken off his black suit jacket. His sleeves were rolled up, revealing the intricate, lethal tattoos entirely covering his forearms. He wasn't just a billionaire businessman; he was a man who had built his empire by surviving the darkest, most violent streets in the city.

"You came to my house to put my mother in a cage," Dante growled softly.
👉 The thugs lunged forward, completely blind to the fact that they were locked in a cage with a monster.
