Chapter 9 - The Broken Engagement

The overwhelming shock on Cole's face violently, instantly morphed into an explosive, terrifying, and absolutely lethal wrath that seemed to suck all the oxygen entirely out of the grand ballroom.

Cole slowly turned his piercing, executioner's gaze away from Lily and locked it entirely onto Sloane. Sloane gasped in sheer, overwhelming horror, her hands flying to her mouth as she realized the catastrophic, fatal mistake she had made. She hadn't just abused a maid. She had tortured syndicate royalty.

"I didn't know! Cole, I swear to God I didn't know!" Sloane shrieked hysterically, completely abandoning her arrogant composure as she dropped to her knees, sobbing wildly.

Cole didn't care about her tears. He looked at the armed guards standing by the sweeping staircase.

"The engagement is permanently cancelled. The alliance with her family is completely severed," Cole ordered, his voice echoing with absolute, unforgiving finality. "Take her out of my sight. Strip her family of all syndicate protection, freeze their accounts, and throw her out into the street exactly as she is."
