Chapter 10 - The True Family

Months passed, and the dark shadow Victoria had cast over the mansion completely evaporated.

Victoria was denied bail and eventually sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison for fraud and child endangerment. She lost everything, forced to trade her designer gowns for a cheap, orange jumpsuit.

The massive mansion, once cold and strict, was transformed into a home filled with laughter and warmth. Dante fundamentally changed his life. He stopped working late nights, leaving the office early every single day to ensure he was there to help Lily with her homework and eat dinner as a family.

Claire flourished in her new role. She managed the estate with kindness and brilliant efficiency, treating every staff member with the respect she had always wanted. She and Lily formed an unbreakable bond, and she became the mother figure the little girl had so desperately needed.

One evening, Dante walked into the living room to find Lily fast asleep on the couch, her head resting comfortably on Claire’s lap as the former maid gently brushed the hair out of the child's face.

Dante smiled, realizing that the greatest treasures in his life weren't his bank accounts or his corporate empires. His greatest treasure was the little girl who finally felt safe, and the brave woman who had risked everything to make sure of it.

Do you think Dante should have noticed the abuse earlier, or was Victoria just a master manipulator?
