Chapter 7 - The Stripping of the Crown

"You wanted the lifestyle," Dante repeated softly.
He took a slow step forward. Victoria instinctively shrank back, terrified that the heavily tattooed man was going to strike her. But Dante was far more brutal than that.
"Take off the necklace," Dante commanded.
Victoria gasped, her hand flying to the massive teardrop diamond resting on her chest. "Dante, no, please, it was an engagement gift—"
"Take it off," Dante’s voice dropped to a lethal rumble. "Before I rip it off."
Trembling violently, Victoria unclasped the necklace. It slipped from her neck, and Dante let it fall to the marble floor with a heavy clatter.
"The ring," Dante demanded.
Crying hysterically, Victoria struggled to pull the three-million-dollar diamond ring off her finger. She dropped it next to the necklace.
"You came into my life with absolutely nothing, Victoria," Dante said, his voice carrying the finality of a judge delivering a death sentence. "And you are leaving with exactly that. You don't own the penthouse. You don't own the cars. I am freezing all of your joint accounts as of this exact second."
"You can't leave me with nothing!" Victoria sobbed, dropping to her knees in her expensive red gown, humiliating herself in front of the entire high-society crowd. "I have nowhere to go!"
Dante pulled out his phone. "I'm sure the federal authorities have a cell available for attempted wire fraud, forgery, and child endangerment."
Victoria screamed as Dante dialed the police. She tried to crawl away, but two of Dante's massive security guards immediately grabbed her by the arms, hauling her up and pinning her in place to wait for the sirens.
