Chapter 10 - The Master’s Heart

Nora looked at Adrian. She tilted her head, her brown hair shifting, making the yellow bow bounce slightly. She looked down at the silver locket on her chest, then back up at the man kneeling in front of her.

Without a word, the tiny three-year-old stepped forward and wrapped her small, delicate arms tightly around Adrian’s broad neck.

Adrian squeezed his eyes shut, wrapping his arms around his daughter as a profound, heavy sigh of absolute peace escaped his lungs. Three years of suffocating darkness, three years of silent agonizing grief, vanished entirely in the warmth of his child's embrace.

The fluffy white cat, Snow, meowed softly and rubbed against their legs, completely unfazed by the emotional reunion.

In the days that followed, the dark, oppressive atmosphere of the grand American estate was entirely completely transformed.

Beatrice was denied bail and locked in a federal prison, facing life behind bars without a single penny to her name. The corrupt security guards were fired and permanently blacklisted from the city.

The heavy oak doors were thrown wide open. Sunlight finally poured through the tall, immaculate windows.

Claire was moved out of the cramped basement and given the master guest suite. She was legally named Nora’s co-guardian and given access to a limitless trust fund, completely securing her future forever.

Adrian returned to his company, sharper and more powerful than ever, but he never worked past 5:00 PM. Every evening, he was home, walking through the lush estate gardens, holding little Nora's hand while Claire walked happily beside them, watching the daughter they both loved chase the fluffy white cat through the grass.
