Chapter 3 - The Manager's Wrath

"What is the meaning of this?!" a shrill, furious voice ripped through the quiet hallway.
Beatrice, Adrian’s older sister and the ruthless manager of the estate, stormed into the room. She wore a sharp, expensive designer suit, her face twisted in absolute disgust. Since Evelyn’s death, Beatrice had taken total control of the family’s wealth, keeping Adrian heavily medicated and isolated in his grief while she ruled the staff with an iron fist.
She saw Claire crying in the doorway and immediately grabbed her by the arm, digging her manicured nails viciously into the poor maid’s flesh.
"You filthy, incompetent rat!" Beatrice hissed, yanking Claire backward. "I told you to keep that little brat in the basement! How dare you let her contaminate my brother's sanctuary?"
Claire gasped in pain, struggling to stay on her feet. "I'm sorry! She followed the cat—"
"Shut up!" Beatrice snapped, her eyes burning with cruel arrogance. "You are fired. Pack your trash and get out of my house before I call the police and have you arrested for trespassing!"
Beatrice marched toward Nora, reaching out roughly to grab the three-year-old by her little arm. "And you, you little gutter rat, get out of here—"
Before Beatrice’s hand could even touch the yellow fabric of Nora’s dress, a massive, powerful hand clamped around her wrist like a steel vice.
The entire room went dead silent.
Beatrice gasped in shock, turning her head. Adrian had stood up.
He wasn't shaking anymore. The devastating grief that had broken him just moments ago was entirely gone, replaced by a cold, terrifying, calculated fury. He towered over his sister, his grip on her wrist tightening until her bones creaked.
"Don't touch her," Adrian said, his voice dropping to a deadly, commanding low tone.
Beatrice’s eyes widened in sheer panic. This wasn't the broken, heavily medicated brother she had controlled for three years. This was the ruthless, dominant master of the estate waking up.
"Adrian, you're confused," Beatrice stuttered, trying to pull away. "This maid let her brat into Evelyn's room! I'm just protecting your peace!"
Adrian slowly turned his head to look at Beatrice, his dark eyes devoid of any mercy.
