Instead of running away in terror, Elena had used her past experience as a certified combat medic—before poverty forced her into domestic service—to expertly pack his wound, stop the massive blood loss, and secretly smuggle him into this private, heavily guarded hospital wing under an alias.
Adrian had survived emergency surgery. But tonight, a hidden, insidious danger had begun to rot him from the inside out.
