Chapter 3 - The Predator Arrives

Claire snapped her head toward the doorway, her maternal instincts violently hijacking her nervous system.

Her expression shifted instantly into a startled, defensive panic. She quickly pulled her hand back from Owen’s cheek, hovering her arm protectively over the clear plastic bassinet as the heavy wooden door started to push open, groaning softly on its hinges.

"Who's there?" Claire gasped, her voice breathless and tight with sheer, unadulterated tension. She desperately looked around the room for a weapon, but there was nothing except a plastic water pitcher and a heart monitor.

The hospital door swung wide open.

Stepping directly into the harsh, bright white light of the room was Graham.

He wore the exact same dark trench coat and sharp suit he had on when he made the phone call. His slow eye movement swept the sterile room before locking entirely onto Claire’s terrified face. The cinematic realism of his cold, calculating stare made the temperature in the room plummet to absolute zero.

"Did you really think you could hide from me, Claire?" Graham asked, his voice deadly calm, vibrating with an arrogant, lethal authority.

Claire’s heart slammed against her ribs. The phone call just ten minutes ago had been a cruel, psychological torture tactic. He hadn't called to warn her to run. He had called to listen to her cry, knowing exactly where she was the entire time.

👉 Graham took a slow step into the room, and the chilling reason he personally tracked her down was about to be revealed.
