Chapter 4 - THE AEGIS FILE
The Aegis file contained more than a takeover.
It contained a burial plan.
Marcus and Diane intended to remove Caroline from both marriage and company by proving incapacity.
The psychiatric report would support emergency transfer of her voting shares.
Diane’s affidavit described Caroline as delusional, obsessive, and violent.
Marcus had collected photographs of every argument.
Caroline throwing a glass.
Caroline pounding on a locked office door.
Caroline crying in a parking garage.
Each image began after provocation.
Marcus canceling her mother’s medical payment.
Diane hiding her phone.
Board security refusing her entry to a meeting she legally controlled.
Cause removed.
Reaction preserved.
The same pattern appeared in Priscilla’s documents.
Marcus planned a different strategy for her.
Not incapacity.
Breach.
The marital proxy gave him authority over Adair Atlantic. He would then trigger an acquisition event, claim Priscilla violated fiduciary duties, and remove her from executive control.
Caroline would be called unstable.
Priscilla would be called reckless.
Two women discredited through different stereotypes.
One man positioned as the calm solution.
Naomi Reed showed both women the transfer map.
“Did either of you sign anything?”
Caroline shook her head.
Priscilla said, “Not yet.”
“That saved both companies.”
Diane overheard.
“No. It delayed inevitability.”
Reed turned.
Diane remained composed despite the warrant.
She believed control was not a crime if written professionally.
She explained the structure as family preservation.
Aegis needed Adair technology.
Adair needed Aegis capital.
Marcus was uniquely positioned to unite them.
“What did Caroline need?” Reed asked.
Diane looked toward her.
“Stability.”
“And Priscilla?”
“Guidance.”
The language revealed everything.
Women with assets became women needing supervision.
Caroline asked Diane, “Did Marcus ever plan to choose either of us?”
Diane smiled faintly.
“Men like Marcus do not choose women. They choose structures.”
That sentence frightened Priscilla.
