Chapter 14 - Vanessa Chose To Speak To Mallory Once

Three years later, Vanessa requested one supervised meeting with her sister.

I didn’t attend.

That was theirs.

Later, Vanessa told me what happened.

Mallory apologized.

Not perfectly.

Then better.

She admitted the wedding plan had been designed to ruin Vanessa.

She admitted she knew I could have been seriously harmed.

She admitted locking Vanessa inside the bridal suite.

Vanessa listened.

Then asked:

“Do you still believe I stole Mom from you?”

Mallory cried.

“Yes.”

Vanessa nodded.

“I can’t fix that for you.”

No argument.

No attempt to rewrite childhood.

Then:

“And you can’t punish me until it feels fixed.”

Mallory understood.

Maybe.

Vanessa left.

She did not promise another meeting.

Forgiveness remained incomplete.

So did reconciliation.

That was allowed.
