Chapter 10 - The True Heir

The heavy mahogany doors burst open again, this time flooded by heavily armed police officers and federal detectives.
"Michael Vance!" the lead detective barked, marching straight to the stage with handcuffs drawn. "You are under arrest for medical fraud, wire fraud, and attempted manslaughter!"
"No! Please!" Michael shrieked like a feral animal as two officers violently tackled him to the marble floor.
The cold steel cuffs clicked loudly around his wrists. Chloe was sobbing hysterically as an officer yanked her up, her emerald dress tearing, exposing the edge of the silicone prosthetic for everyone in the room to see. They were dragged out of the ballroom in absolute, irreversible disgrace, their lives permanently destroyed.
The chaotic energy slowly evaporated, leaving a profound, beautiful peace in the room.
Arthur turned to Sarah. The terrifying billionaire completely melted away, replaced by a desperate, hopeful grandfather. He looked down at her baby bump with tears in his eyes.
"Are they safe?" Arthur whispered.
"They are perfectly healthy, Arthur," Sarah smiled warmly, resting her hand on her stomach. "Both of them."
Arthur wept, wrapping his arms gently around Sarah. He immediately rewrote the trust fund, naming Sarah as the interim CEO and the sole guardian of the five-hundred-million-dollar empire until the twins came of age.
