Chapter 9 - The Microphone Drop

Sarah didn't argue. She simply pulled out her cell phone, synced it to the ballroom's Bluetooth audio system, and pressed play.

The crystal-clear audio of Michael and Chloe in the closet echoed through the massive speakers for every single elite guest to hear.

"This silicone belly is heavy, Michael..."

"The powder I slipped in her tea took care of that little 'mistake' she was carrying... We just have to keep the fake pregnancy going until the ink is dry on the trust fund."

The recording stopped.

The silence that followed was absolute, terrifying, and dripping with imminent justice.

Chloe let out a blood-curdling scream of pure despair. She tried to hike up her emerald dress and run for the side exit, but Arthur’s massive personal bodyguards instantly blocked her path, grabbing her violently by the arms.

"You disgusting, greedy parasite," Arthur growled, turning to Michael with eyes blacker than midnight. "You are no longer a part of this family. You are entirely disinherited."

"Grandpa, wait!" Michael sobbed, falling to his knees on the marble floor, completely humiliated in front of the entire city. "I can fix this! I'm your heir!"

"You are nothing," Arthur spat.

Suddenly, the wailing sound of heavy police sirens shattered the quiet night outside the hotel.
