Chapter 3 - The Ballroom Panic

The heavy, suffocating silence lasted for exactly one second before the grand ballroom completely erupted into pure, unadulterated chaos.

"He's got a gun!" a wealthy guest screamed hysterically in the background.

Dozens of high-society guests surged to their feet in sheer panic. Expensive crystal glasses shattered against the marble floor. Heavy dining chairs were violently knocked over as billionaires and socialites frantically scrambled toward the heavy oak exit doors, pushing and shoving in a desperate bid for survival.

The warm candlelight flickered wildly as the elegant anniversary gala completely collapsed into a nightmare.

Vincent didn't run. He couldn't. The assassin was standing less than three feet away from him.

A tight close-up captured Vincent’s face. The panicked, desperate husband completely vanished. The cold, demonic, calculating mafia boss fully awakened. He slowly turned his head to look directly down the barrel of the suppressed pistol, keeping his body firmly positioned between the gunman and the terrified, sobbing Serena.

His expression hardened into a mask of cold, lethal survival.

"You're making a mistake," Vincent warned, his voice deadly calm and dripping with imminent destruction. "Whoever paid you, I will double it right now."

An extreme, cinematic close-up focused entirely on Maryanne.

She stood absolutely frozen, her silver gown shimmering in the chaotic lighting. She was watching the man who had just utterly destroyed her heart face his own executioner.
