Chapter 4 - The Assassin's Target

The cinematic realism of the moment was completely paralyzing.

The gunman didn't lower his weapon. He didn't accept the bribe. He looked directly into Vincent’s cold, arrogant eyes with profound, absolute disgust.

"I'm not here for your money, Vincent," the gunman stated lethally, completely bypassing the mafia boss's negotiation.

The assassin slowly shifted his aim.

He didn't point the heavy pistol at Vincent’s chest. He pointed it directly at Serena, the terrified, trembling mistress hiding behind him in the dark red velvet dress.

"And I'm not here for you," the gunman added flawlessly.

Vincent froze, his arrogant composure violently cracking. He tightened his grip on Serena. "What do you want with her?"

"She isn't a socialite," the gunman revealed, dropping a massive, highly classified bombshell into the middle of the ballroom. "Her name is Elena Rostova. She is an embedded federal informant. She was placed in your bed six months ago to map your entire offshore banking network, and she just transmitted the master ledger to the FBI thirty minutes ago."

Serena stopped breathing. The color violently drained from her perfectly contoured cheeks.

"Vincent, he's lying!" Serena shrieked pathetically, trying to hide deeper behind his tuxedo.

But Vincent’s highly tactical mind was already doing the math. The sudden audits. The frozen accounts last week. She was the leak.
