Chapter 9 - The Financial Guillotine

"No!" Evan wailed hysterically, completely abandoning his arrogant CEO facade. He fell to his knees on the hardwood floor, grabbing his hair. "My company! My bank accounts! You can't do this! I built everything!"

"You built absolutely nothing," Mr. Sterling sneered in disgust. He pulled a secondary document from the folder. "Your corporate and personal accounts are entirely frozen pending a fraud investigation. You have absolutely zero assets to your name."

Diane began to hyperventilate. "You can't throw us out! We are a family! Lauren is pregnant! We live here now!"

The lead Sheriff’s deputy stepped forward, his hand resting casually on his utility belt.

"You have exactly five minutes to vacate the premises," the deputy commanded loudly. "You are not permitted to take any luxury items, electronics, or vehicles purchased by Vanguard Holdings. Grab your coats and walk out the front door, or you will be arrested for criminal trespassing."

"Michael, do something!" Lauren sobbed wildly, her dreams of a free lakefront mansion turning to absolute ash.

But Michael was paralyzed with fear.

The deputies didn't wait. They marched into the house, violently herding the screaming, weeping family toward the front doors. Diane tried to grab a crystal vase from the hallway, but an officer aggressively snatched it out of her hands, pointing her toward the exit.

Evan sobbed like a child, forced out of the mahogany doors in nothing but his blue shirt and slacks, leaving his phone, his wallet, and his entire fake life behind.

👉 The family was shoved out onto the driveway, completely unaware that Claire was waiting to deliver the final blow.
