Chapter 7 - The True Father

The chaotic, toxic energy was entirely dragged out of the luxury backyard. The wealthy guests fled in absolute terror as Sarah and David were forcefully hauled out to the waiting squad cars, crying and screaming in total, undeniable disgrace.

Jason didn't watch them leave. He immediately sprinted past the catered food tables and rushed into the massive luxury house.

He took the stairs two at a time, his heart hammering violently against his ribs. He ran down the hallway and stopped in front of the smallest, darkest bedroom in the house. He gently pushed the door open.

Maya was sitting on the edge of a cheap, worn mattress. She was still wearing her faded blue hoodie and torn jeans. She had heard the screaming from the backyard, and she was trembling in absolute fear, terrified that her mother was going to punish her for the noise.

When Maya looked up and saw her father standing in the doorway, she completely froze.

"Dad?" Maya whispered, tears instantly flooding her beautiful, exhausted eyes.

Jason didn't care about his expensive dark suit. He dropped to his knees on the cheap carpet and violently pulled his daughter into his strong, fiercely protective arms. He buried his face in her hair, weeping tears of pure, agonizing guilt and overwhelming love.

"I'm here, Maya," Jason choked out, holding her tighter than he ever had in his entire life. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know. I swear to God, I didn't know what she was doing to you."

Maya sobbed uncontrollably, wrapping her weak arms tightly around his neck. "She told me you didn't love me anymore. She told me you stopped sending money."

"She lied," Jason whispered fiercely, kissing her forehead. "I have always loved you. And you are never, ever going to wear torn clothes or eat stale bread again. You are coming home with me."

👉 Jason carried his daughter out of the toxic mansion, completely ready to give her the perfect, brilliant life she deserved.
