Chapter 10 - The True Heir

Alexander looked into the bright blue eyes of the homeless child who had risked everything to save him. The cold, ruthless billionaire felt a profound warmth fill his chest—a feeling he hadn't experienced in years.
"They're gone, Luna," Alexander said softly, offering her a warm, genuine smile. "They can never hurt anyone ever again. Because of you."
Luna sniffled, wiping a tear from her dirty cheek. "So... you get to go back to your big house now?"
"Yes," Alexander nodded. He reached out and gently placed a hand on her small shoulder. "But I'm not going back alone. If you'll let me."
Luna’s eyes went wide. She stopped breathing for a second. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, a girl as brave and smart as you shouldn't be sleeping on a steam vent," Alexander said, his voice thick with emotion. "I want to adopt you, Luna. I want to give you a real home. A real bedroom. I want to send you to the best schools in the world, and one day, if you want it, I'll teach you how to run my entire company."
Luna dropped her plastic soup bowl. It clattered against the floor. With a sudden, beautiful sob, she threw her thin arms tightly around Alexander’s neck, burying her face in his shoulder.
Alexander closed his eyes, wrapping his arms around his new daughter, holding her tight.
In the months that followed, the news of the assassination attempt rocked the world. Julian and Celeste were both sentenced to life in federal prison without the possibility of parole, their names erased from high society forever.
But the real story was the transformation of Alexander Sterling.
