Chapter 12 - Linda Lost Something More Important Than a House Key

Linda was devastated when I restricted contact.
For the first month, she could only see Ellie during supervised visits with my sister present.
She accused me of using Ellie to punish her.
I told her:
“No. I’m changing access because you secretly gave a man Caroline feared the means to enter our home.”
She cried.
Said she made one mistake.
It wasn’t one.
Eight months of calls.
Hundreds of photographs.
Our address.
Our routines.
A working key.
A planned secret meeting.
Then silence after Raymond started visiting the property.
That was a sequence.
Not a moment.
Eventually, Linda stopped defending the intention and began acknowledging the behavior.
She wrote me a letter.
One sentence mattered:
I decided my regret about Raymond mattered more than Caroline’s boundary, and then I used Ellie to try to repair something that was never mine to repair.
That was the first apology I believed.
It did not restore trust immediately.
It created the possibility of rebuilding it.
