Chapter 11 - Grant Had Planned to Blame Silvio

The most disturbing document appeared on Grant’s laptop.
A draft email.
Never sent.
Addressed to three Moretti Resorts board members.
Subject:
URGENT FAMILY INCIDENT / SILVIO
The body began:
There has been a devastating accident involving Silvio’s children at the resort. Understandably, Silvio is in no condition to continue executive responsibilities.
It continued with a recommendation that Lucinda assume temporary operational authority.
Then:
I believe it is in everyone’s interest that all pending internal reviews pause until the family crisis stabilizes.
The email had been created forty minutes before Mia was placed inside the SUV.
Forty minutes.
Grant had drafted the corporate aftermath before there was an accident.
That became one of the strongest pieces of evidence of premeditation.
He had already written the story:
Tragedy.
Distraught father.
Temporary leadership change.
Audit delayed.
The children were not random collateral.
Their deaths were supposed to become a management strategy.
When Silvio read the draft, he had to leave the room.
He walked outside the hospital.
Sat alone on a concrete bench.
And cried for the first time since the valet entrance.
Not because he almost lost his company.
May you like
Because someone had looked at his love for Ethan and Mia and calculated its business value if destroyed.
