Chapter 7 - Julian Wanted Dad to Dress Differently Before We Were Even Married

The wedding planning exposed:
everything.
When we chose Ridgeway Hall, I loved that Dad worked there.
He knew:
the staff,
the grounds,
the building.
It felt personal.
Julian disliked it.
“This place is nice.”
“Then what’s wrong?”
“Your father works here.”
“Yes.”
“Guests will see him.”
I stared.
“He’s walking me down the aisle.”
“You know what I mean.”
“No.”
“What if someone asks what he does?”
I laughed because I genuinely thought he must be:
joking.
“They can ask.”
Julian became irritated.
“Clara.”
“What?”
“My father is inviting clients.”
“So?”
“People notice things.”
“Like?”
He stopped.
I made him continue.
“Like your dad showing up in a maintenance truck.”
There.
I said:
“Then they’ll notice a truck.”
Julian called me:
oversensitive.
Wedding planning continued.
But something inside me had:
May you like
moved.
