Audrey originally assumed Elise wanted money too.

The truth was more complicated.
Elise had been financially dependent on Grant for months.
After her separation, she had almost nothing accessible in her own name.
Her husband controlled most marital accounts pending divorce proceedings.
Grant paid Elise’s attorney retainer.
Covered her car payment.
Allowed her to live with them.
Then began lending her additional money.
By the time Audrey supposedly died, Elise owed Grant more than $60,000.
Not on formal paper.
Through favors.
Transfers.
Payments.
Rescue.
Grant gradually turned that dependence into loyalty.
He also manipulated her resentment.
He told Elise that Audrey wanted her out of the house.
That Audrey had called her “a parasite.”
That Audrey planned to stop helping with legal fees.
Audrey had said none of those things.
Grant created a version of Audrey that made Elise feel threatened.
Then he presented the sedative plan as something smaller than murder.
“She needs to sleep through this.”
“Through what?”
“A conversation she refuses to have.”
Elise later claimed Grant told her he only needed Audrey unconscious long enough to access documents and move funds before she could freeze their accounts.
That explanation did not save Elise.
Because even if she believed it at the beginning, she knew much more by the end.
She watched Audrey become dangerously unresponsive.
Helped move her.
Lied to the doctor.
Allowed Grant to present her as dead.
Attended the funeral.
Then wore Audrey’s necklace.
The necklace was not motive.
It was psychological evidence.
Elise had crossed the point where Audrey remained a living sister in her mind.
