Chapter 11 - The Family Trust Was Reviewed Without Turning Lucy Into a Paternity Trial

Once I knew what Vanessa had been doing, I informed:

the independent trustee.

So did:

Rebecca.

Vanessa was temporarily removed from participating in decisions involving:

Lucy

while counsel reviewed the conflict.

She fought:

furiously.

“This is retaliation because Mark hit me.”

Fair accusation to:

raise.

My slap and cake throw were:

my conduct.

Trust governance was:

separate.

The corporate trustee looked at:

emails,

distribution history,

Vanessa’s attempts to investigate paternity,

her statements about Lucy’s expenses.

The trust document was interpreted by:

counsel.

The relevant definition of descendants included legally recognized children and did not give Vanessa unilateral authority to initiate some private bloodline investigation.

Even if the language had been less clear, a trustee could not responsibly suspend a child’s necessary support based on:

rumor

and:

personal hostility.

There was no court-ordered DNA test.

No dramatic paternity hearing.

I had no interest in:

one.

Lucy’s status as my daughter was not up for:

family referendum.

Vanessa resigned as family co-trustee before removal proceedings went further.

An independent individual fiduciary joined the corporate trustee instead.

That improved:

everything.

No more family member deciding whether Lucy’s wheelchair repair was:

May you like

“worth it.”
