Chapter 9 - The Queen's Demise

Dante stopped mere inches from Isabella. She was trembling violently, her knees buckling as the guards held her upright.
"You brought my enemies to my door," Dante whispered, his voice as cold as a grave. "You betrayed my trust. But your greatest mistake—your unforgivable sin—was laying your hands on a child under my protection."
He reached out and violently grabbed Isabella’s left hand. With a single, ruthless motion, he stripped the massive, multi-million-dollar diamond engagement ring off her finger. Isabella let out a pathetic whimper as he dropped the ring onto the cold marble floor.
"Take her down to the subterranean holding cells," Dante ordered the guards, not taking his eyes off her terrified face. "When the cartel assassins breach the perimeter tonight, make sure she's the first thing they find."
"No! Dante! Please! I love you!" Isabella shrieked, thrashing wildly as the massive men dragged her backward.
Her expensive designer gown tore against the floor. Her pathetic, desperate cries echoed through the grand foyer, growing fainter and fainter until the heavy steel doors leading to the basement slammed shut, swallowing her into the darkness forever.
