Chapter 6 - The Technical Trap

Gregory’s arrogant smile widened, completely oblivious to the massive financial guillotine hovering directly over his neck.
“Of course, Jonathan,” Gregory replied smoothly, adjusting the cuffs of his expensive designer suit. “I know Meridian inside and out. Ask me absolutely anything you want.”
Jonathan took a slow, deliberate step forward, completely invading the Vice President's personal space.
“Meridian utilizes a dynamic neural network to isolate malicious routing protocols,” Jonathan stated clinically.
“If the primary server cluster experiences a cascade failure during a brute-force decryption attempt, what is the exact fail-safe syntax required to reboot the quantum-logic gates without losing the encrypted client data?”
The entire hallway went completely, paralyzing dead silent.
Gregory froze.
The smug, confident smile instantly melted off his face, violently replaced by sheer, unadulterated terror. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
He began to sweat profusely, frantically scanning his brain for any corporate buzzwords that might save him.
“Well, Jonathan, we… we utilize a robust, synergistic cloud-based synergy protocol,” Gregory stammered pathetically, his voice cracking into a high-pitched squeal. “We would seamlessly pivot our deliverables to the backup mainframe—”
“Stop talking,” Jonathan commanded.
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an absolute, freezing authority that completely shattered Gregory's facade. Jonathan looked at the Vice President with pure, unfiltered disgust.
“You have absolutely no idea how the architecture works. You didn't write a single line of that code.”
Jonathan turned his sharp gaze back to Daniel, who was still standing calmly by the elevator doors, silently holding his cardboard box and the worn black notebook.
“He wrote it,” Jonathan stated, pointing a firm finger at Daniel. “Every single brilliant, revolutionary line of it."
Jonathan took a step closer to the trembling Vice President.

👉 Gregory desperately tried to formulate an excuse, but the billionaire investor was already sealing his doom.
