Micah remembered little clearly.

A woman saying his mother died.
A new name repeated until answering felt safer than resisting.
His biological mother, Caroline Reed, received the call at 2:13 in the morning.
Her son had not drowned.
He had been taken by his paternal grandfather during the camping trip and transferred through Hollow Creek.
The grandfather wanted control of a life-insurance trust.
He died before the transfer network completed.
Micah was sold into a false adoption instead.
