Chapter 3 - The Panicked Lies

"Damian, please!" Vanessa shrieked falsely, physically staggering backward in her red off-the-shoulder gown. She plastered a mask of panicked innocence onto her face. "I didn't know the pecan was in there! It must have been a mistake by the kitchen! I would never hurt Ethan!"

"You told him it was safe," Damian repeated coldly, stepping toward her. "You tried to force the maid to give him back the fork when she tried to stop him."

"Because I thought it was just chocolate!" Vanessa wept hysterically, tears ruining her flawless makeup. She turned her toxic glare toward Clara. "This pathetic maid is trying to frame me! She probably planted the nut herself because she's jealous of our wedding! Have your guards arrest her!"

Clara shrank back slightly, clutching her white apron, entirely terrified of the powerful woman's accusations.

But Damian didn't even glance at Clara. He knew his staff. He paid them millions to ensure his home was a fortress, and he knew Clara worshipped the ground his son walked on.

Damian didn't pull a weapon. A quick, violent outburst in the dining room was far too generous for a monster who targeted a child.

He raised his tattooed hand.

"Lock down the estate," Damian commanded his massive security team, his voice echoing off the crystal chandeliers. "Nobody leaves this room. Bring out the head chef. Now."

Within ten seconds, heavy steel deadbolts locked the grand double doors of the ballroom. The wealthy guests gasped, realizing they were entirely trapped inside a billionaire's brutal interrogation.
