Chapter 10 - The Vow Fulfilled

Luca didn't stand over her. He completely ignored his expensive suit as he dropped back down to both knees right in front of Hannah and Sophia.

He looked at the waitress who had risked her freedom, her safety, and her life to save a child that wasn't even hers.

"I am so incredibly sorry," Luca whispered, genuine, hot tears finally spilling from his dark eyes. "I brought a monster into our home. I failed to protect my daughter. But you... you are the bravest person I have ever met."

Hannah let out a ragged sob, tears of pure relief streaming down her face. "I just wanted her to be safe."

Luca gently reached out and took Hannah’s trembling hand.

"You never have to carry a serving tray again," Luca promised, his voice thick with profound, unbreakable gratitude. "By tomorrow morning, I am fully funding your own state-of-the-art pediatric rehabilitation clinic. You will be the head director. And you will never, ever have to worry about money, or your safety, again."

Hannah gasped, covering her mouth with her free hand as the crushing weight of poverty and fear completely evaporated.

Sophia smiled brightly, wrapping her small arms tightly around Hannah's neck, and then reaching out to hug her crying father.

In the months that followed, Vanessa was sentenced to forty years in a federal penitentiary, completely abandoned by her ruined family. Hannah’s new clinic became the most successful pediatric recovery center in the state, saving hundreds of children.

But her most important patient remained by her side. Hannah became a permanent, fiercely protected part of the Moretti family. And as Luca watched Hannah and Sophia running and laughing together in the sunlit estate gardens, the ruthless boss finally found a genuine, unshakeable peace, knowing his daughter’s life had been saved by the power of a single, unbreakable promise.

Do you think a forty-year prison sentence was enough justice for Vanessa, or did the cruel stepmother deserve a harsher punishment from the syndicate?
