Chapter 4 - The Fired Therapist
"I didn't abandon her!" Hannah cried out, the agonizing pain of the last two years finally breaking through her professional restraint.
The wealthy guests murmured in shock, straining to hear the confrontation.
"I was making incredible progress with Sophia," Hannah explained, her voice trembling but laced with absolute steel. "Her spine was healing. The nerve damage wasn't permanent. Two years ago, I told your family that with aggressive daily physical therapy, she would walk again within six months."
Luca’s brow furrowed in deep, agonizing confusion. "Nobody ever told me that. The medical reports said her condition was deteriorating."
"Because I was fired the very next morning!" Hannah shouted, tears spilling over her eyelashes.
She pointed a shaking, accusatory finger directly at Vanessa, who was standing a few feet away in her red silk gown.
"She fired me!" Hannah revealed, her voice echoing in the dead silent ballroom. "Vanessa came to the clinic while you were out of the country on business. She told the hospital board that I was intentionally hurting Sophia during the exercises. She threatened to sue the entire hospital network unless my medical license was permanently revoked!"
Vanessa gasped theatrically, placing a manicured hand over her chest. "Luca, this woman is clearly having a psychotic break! I have never seen her before in my life! She is a delusional stalker!"
Luca didn't look at his fiancée. He kept his intense, piercing gaze locked entirely on Hannah.

"If your license was revoked," Luca asked softly, a dangerous edge creeping into his voice. "And you were banned from coming near my family... how is my daughter walking right now?"
