Chapter 1 - The Winter Shove

The private Bellacorte mountain lodge in Colorado was designed to be a fortress of absolute luxury. Deep in the snow-covered mountains, the massive entrance hall radiated warmth, featuring a towering stone fireplace, antique coat racks, and a long table overflowing with stacked birthday gifts wrapped in expensive silk ribbons. Elite guests in designer formalwear milled about, sipping champagne to celebrate the birthday of the most powerful man in the state.
But the warmth of the room did not reach the terrace doors.
"Get out!" Claudia hissed, her face twisted in a mask of vicious, unadulterated cruelty.
The 36-year-old woman, draped in an elegant winter dress and dripping in expensive jewelry, violently shoved a tiny, fragile figure toward the heavy glass doors.
It was three-year-old Noah. While the rest of the family wore thousands of dollars of couture, the toddler was dressed in torn, filthy clothes that smelled of damp dust. He was entirely barefoot, his small toes curling against the freezing threshold. In his dirty hands, he desperately clutched a small, handmade wooden airplane, clumsily wrapped with a piece of frayed ribbon.
With a forceful, heartless push, Claudia shoved the barefoot child straight through the open terrace doors.
Noah tumbled backward, his small body crashing into the freezing, deep snow of the Colorado blizzard. The icy wind instantly bit into his pale skin. He let out a sharp gasp of shock, dropping his toy.
Claudia sneered, stepping to the threshold. She picked up the handmade wooden airplane and threw it aggressively into the snowbank right next to the shivering child.
