Chapter 6 - The Charity Threat
At 11:06 PM, Brooke emailed invitations to over sixty journalists, high-level donors, and public officials for the massive Richmond Foundation charity dinner scheduled for the following week.
The subject line read: IMPORTANT PUBLIC SAFETY DISCLOSURE.
Attached was the blurred photograph from the raid, Nova’s hotel employee picture, and a promise:
At tomorrow evening’s event, I will present evidence proving that the Richmond Grand has concealed the true identity of a highly dangerous, violent criminal employee.
Grayson showed the screenshot of the email to Nova in his private office overlooking the city.
Nova read it. Her expression became strangely, terrifyingly calm.
"Cancel the dinner," Grayson ordered his head of security. "Lock Brooke out of the building."
"No," Nova interrupted sharply.
Grayson stared at her. "Why? She's trying to ruin your life."
"Because I spent eight years hiding from my own history," Nova said softly. "I left my old life because every powerful person believed their money gave them the right to decide where I slept, what I could say, and who knew my name. I will not disappear again because a rich woman embarrassed herself in a ballroom."
Nova looked directly into the billionaire's eyes.

"Do not cancel the dinner," Nova commanded. "If she wants to put my history in front of a room full of cameras, then this time I’m going to be standing there when people decide what it means."
