Chapter 7 - The True Heir

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the luxury room.

Dante signaled his remaining guards to politely escort the terrified guests out of the building. Within minutes, the massive, bright room was completely empty, save for Dante and myself.

I was still standing near the cloakroom, clutching my hands together to stop them from shaking. I had just witnessed the absolute destruction of a billionaire's fiancée.

Dante walked slowly toward me. The cold, terrifying executioner completely vanished. He looked exhausted, but his dark eyes were filled with a profound, overwhelming respect.

"Your father would be incredibly proud of you, Elena," Dante whispered softly, his deep voice filled with genuine gratitude. "You saved my life tonight. You saw what my entire security team missed."

I swallowed hard, looking down at the glossy floor. "I just didn't want you to get hurt, Mr. Moretti."

"You are no longer a maid," Dante stated firmly, leaving absolutely no room for argument.

He reached into his pocket and placed a heavy, solid black titanium keycard into my trembling hand.

"You are moving out of the servant's quarters," Dante vowed, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every syllable. "I am elevating you to the Head of Internal Security for the entire syndicate. I am quadrupling your salary. You will have a private suite, your own detail, and a seat at my table. Nobody will ever look down on you again."

Tears of pure, unadulterated relief and joy finally spilled down my cheeks.

I hadn't just survived a deadly conspiracy; I had finally taken my rightful place in the empire my father died protecting.

If you were Elena, would you have accepted the high-ranking mafia position, or would you have asked for millions to walk away entirely to start a safe, normal life?
